Carrier Case Transtar carries Yukon Gear & Axle mini spools. Besides the price, the difference between a full spool and a mini spool is the strength. Although a mini spool drives exactly like a full spool, they are not as strong which means they do not support the ring gear. A mini spool replaces the spider gears and locks the left and right axle shafts together.

o Full spool: lock both left and right axles so there is no loss of power, due to one wheel spinning faster than the other. They also support the ring gear better and are lighter than any other differential.

o Mini spool: fits inside the standard open carrier, replacing the spider gears and does exactly what a full spool does- but mini spools are not as strong and do not add any support to the ring gear.
