However, if the OE product is not made available to the aftermarket, The company utilizes an extremely robust reverse engineering process to develop designs and materials that exceed OE specifications.

Premium, and often proprietary, materials such as Torlon®, Quantum® PTFE, and TransTec®-exclusive paper is incorporated into bills-of-materials that are developed through a combination of both external research and physical teardowns to ensure accuracy of the final kit.

In addition to containing bonded shift rail pistons (when applicable), the full line of TransTec® DCT kits also includes such things as OE input shaft seals, OE manual lever seals, and OE encoder rings.

DCT Production Continues To Climb

Although DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) technology was initially developed in the late 1980s, it wasn’t until 2003 that a full production series hit the streets. Dual Clutch TransmissionBack then, the number of vehicles that had a DCT was extremely low. However today those numbers have increased substantially and will continue to do so. As we look at the numbers, DCT applications have increased from just .06% of the total global (automatic) transmission production in 2003 to 15.21% in 2017. And with estimates of over 19.5% in 2023, wet & dry applications will be a significant portion of the total. (Based on IHS data.)
